Many online businesses say email is their most effective source for creating revenue.

Read on for 5 key ingredients for a create an email newsletter that will get subscribers clicking “shop now” and not “unsubscribe!”
1. Be Genuinely You
The key to a successful creative email newsletter is being yourself. Be real. Be tangible.
Odds are, your business is an extension of your uniqueness. Therefore, don’t focus on selling products, focus on selling yourself.
Give people a good story and let them choose your business based on who you are, not what you sell.
2. Don’t Over-Sell
Speaking of selling, don’t over-do it!
The average modern-American sees 4,000 to 10,000 ads a day! From billboards to sidebars on the internet, we are drowning in ads.
We’re tired of it.
When building a creative email newsletter, be subtle in pushing for sales, if at all. Remember, a newsletter is generally one of many in an email campaign. You don’t have to start pushing sales in your first one, in fact, you probably shouldn’t.
Build trust and a relationship first. Then, start pushing sales.
The best way to build a relationship is with email campaigns. There are plenty of companies out there to help you do this.
Make sure you shop around first, however, as some companies are much better than others. For example, considering MailChimp vs Klaviyo is no contest. MailChimp is a fraction of the price and offers much more.
3. Be Mobile Friendly
Computers and laptops will be around forever, we need them.
However, while not everyone has a desktop or laptop, 77% of Americans own a smartphone.
Make sure your newsletter is formatted for both traditional computers and mobile devices. Your email must be easy to read, or people will scroll right on by.
4. Be Picture Perfect
In the world of never-ending ads, you have to work to get peoples’ attention.
Snagging the perfect picture or image for a creative email can make all the difference. Make sure you choose images, fonts, and colors that stand out without making it feel cluttered or obnoxious.
Again, there is a fine line to tread, but if you track your analytics, you can review which emails perform the best regarding interactions and funneling.
5. CTA Is Everything
CTA stands for Call To Action. This refers to your plug within your email guiding subscribers to engage with you or your site.
These can be littered throughout the email with well-placed links, gently guiding subscribers back to your website, or at the end with a more abrasive “shop now” button.
Make your CTA button stand out (color) and aesthetically appealing with a 3D or bubble type effect. The more it looks like you can actually physically push it, the better.
Either and both are good options, however, remember not to push too hard or you’ll scare people away.
