Daily Inspiration: Cowabunga! 30 Years of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Today’s daily inspiration comes from Jude Buffum from the home of the cheese steak, Philadelphia. Jude’s illustration brings us Gen-X’ers way back when toys were still in cast-iron and retro styles were a new trend.

Based on the 1980s TMNT cartoon and line of toys, Jude manages to ‘capture as much of the adventure from the depths of Earth all the way into the sky’ with his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles illustrations.

Jude has a unique cartoony style that uses great color matching to tie everything up. He’s even got all the characters down in a 2D Nintendo Game-boyish sequence. The artwork below are part of a print series titled Cowabunga! 30 years of TMNT and are for sale during his show in July. Jude’s work includes pieces for the New York Times, GQ, Entertainment Weekly, and Newsweek. If you’re in Hollywood, check out the link after the jump for more information about his show.
