Add Amazing Custom Styles to Google Maps with Snazzy Maps

For many web projects, it’s now become necessary to add a location map for any business. For years, Google Maps has been the default map integration of choice, both for its simplicity and functionality it provides the user.

However, I speak for most designers when I say that it isn’t the prettiest on the planet. The ability to change the look and style of Gmaps was largely a project-to-project basis, working with developers in adding layers for custom colors and styles.

By the stroke and grace of the design gods, this is where Snazzy Maps comes in.

Snazzy Maps is a community built around creating great looking styles for Google Maps. As of version 3 of the Google Maps API, custom styles can now be applied to the typical (boring) map style that we’ve become accustomed to. This allows developers and designers to pick a style that matches the theme of their website.

Using these styles in your website is as easy as copying the JSON on any style page and passing this to the map options of any Google Maps object.

Snazzy Maps is an Atmist product and was created in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. All styles are licensed under creative commons and are completely free to use.

To check out the latest styles, you know where to go.
