You’ve seen them before, the style and design trend that Windows started (which I still find hard to believe) with the boxy, squarish detail that is the Metro. It wasn’t love at first sight I have to admit, but over the months and seeing how designers have rendered their own version, I find myself opening up to it more every day, developing newer attractions to it.
For several weeks now I’ve been working on a UI project for a client that truly adores this style. Even before awarding me the job, they kept on emphasizing on the fact that they want their site ‘to be fully metro’. Well, I can’t say it looks bad, there’s something minimalist about the style when you look at the overall picture, what I can finally appreciate is the flexibility it gives us designers.
Since starting on this project I’ve been hooked on Alessio Atzeni‘s super stylo Metrize – a Metro style icons set. It’s saved me countless hours of creating my own icons and with 300 icons to choose from, this set is super complete!
This is a free icon set and works perfectly for your app or web projects. Alessio has allowed us to use these icons for both commercial and personal projects and customize them any way we like.
The download includes:
- PSD (Single Shape Layer)
