But what are going to be the big ones for 2022? Well, we decided to scour the web on the hunt for what the best web designers around are saying about what to expect over the next 12 months\u2026<\/p>\n

Inclusive Design<\/h2>\n

It may sound like a bit of a BS buzzword, but inclusive design is an important aspect of design and it\u2019s going to play a big part in the next year. While we all have different target markets, for example a solicitor website is going to have an entirely different target audience to a cupcake delivery service, it\u2019s still important to have elements of inclusivity and equality.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What we\u2019re going to see over the next 12 months is more and more imagery and illustrations offering up diversity across the likes of ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and ultimately creating a more welcoming atmosphere online.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This will certainly happen across gaming, especially, which has struggled with a bad reputation when it comes to gender discrimination in particular. Riot Games had to pay out almost \u00a375million<\/a> due to gender discrimination recently, and many brands will be looking to ensure diversity is at the forefront of what they do in the coming year, across all parts of their output.<\/p>\n

Scrollers at the Ready<\/h2>\n

Over the past 12 months we\u2019ve seen a bit of a shift towards pages that are long in length and are more creative in the way we tell stories. From intricately designed pages from well-established designers, to amazing templates from website building platform, like Duda for an example<\/a>, \u201cscrollytelling\u201d is a thing, and a pretty cool one at that.<\/p>\n

These visual effects are superb in immersifying a reader into a story, and telling a narrative that works chronologically. Whether you\u2019re looking to sell a product, tell a news story, or create an educational piece of writing, scrolling pages are captivating.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s that air of anticipation as to what\u2019s coming next in terms of interactive features, text, or imagery, while it\u2019s also possible for the reader to travel\/scroll at their own pace, just as they would a physical book.<\/p>\n

As a side note, we\u2019ll also see this type of scroll both vertically, as is traditional, and horizontally, which offers a new and exciting way to interact with a web page.<\/p>\n

Big, Bold and Beautiful Typography<\/h2>\n

2022 is going to be the year of typography, and it\u2019s going to come in big shapes and sizes, as well as enjoy plenty of animation.<\/p>\n

The word \u201cbrutalist\u201d has been passed around by a number of designers looking ahead to 2022, so it perhaps may not be the sort of style that is going to last a lifetime, but is certainly going to be all the rage for a period. Think metropolitan vibes, with giant fonts splashing words with meaning across a page.<\/p>\n

Alongside this, we\u2019re expecting to see more and more moving text to grab attention. There\u2019s been plenty of this in 2021 and it\u2019s certainly here to stay. It\u2019s a perfect way to tell a story of who you are as a brand and your meaning behind them, while they are ideal for highlighting your brand values or pointing readers in their direction.<\/p>\n

Contrast Colours<\/h2>\n

You only have to walk the high streets or head to the trendy bars of your local city centre to see that the 90s are in, and that\u2019s begun to seep into web design. While we\u2019re not going back to the dark ages of the internet, the bold, contrasting colours are certainly heading back.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not going to be adopted by every site, for those targeting the likes of millennials, we\u2019re certain to see plenty of it. Think neon on black, purple on yellow, etc.<\/p>\n
