We are switching to a dedicated server

I want to start this article by saying thank you to all our readers, contributors and friends that have supported the growth of CrazyLeaf Design over these almost 2 years.

The blog has grown constantly over the last year and has got to the point where it outgrew its shared hosting server. Together with our hosting company, SiteGround, we’ve studied the processor and server resources usage of our website and found it to be using about 3 times its shared hosting resource limit.

In conclusion we’ll be switching to a dedicated server. We haven’t really decided which hosting company to use for this (we have quite a few options) so if you have a suggestion or you want to recommend a dedicated hosting company please leave a comment.

Anyway the point is that we’ll be experiencing some downtime, on Monday to be more precise. We appologise for that and we promise we’ll do everything we can to keep the downtime to a minimum. Thank you.

Congratulations! its an issue that comes when sites become popular and making the wrong choice mean sleepless nights.

Since I’ve been in that position twice i can recommend you two hosts which i personally know they live up to promises.

checking from you stats details on your “advertise” page I do not think you need a full dedicated sever just yet, that would be a waste of money. your better off getting a medium range VPS with at least 768mb ram if your using Cpanel and at least 512mb if your using Directadmin.

I recommend Knownhost or wiredtree, both are very good hosts and you can check webhostingtalk.com to confirm that.

I’ve been with both of them and currently with knownhost because i prefer Directadmin panel for its lower memory usage.

    good luck.

Thanks for the input. I’ve been reading last night quite a few hours on webhostingtalk about VPSs and dedicated severs and Knownhost and WiredTree seemed some really great solutions for what I need. I’ll have a talk with Bogdan (the other half of CLD) and make a decision.

I would recommend MediaTemple - they’ve been absolutely great to work with. Wonderful support.

WiredTree is pretty good, I just changed from shitty Siteground to them. I’m still in transfer but hope everything will get better after Siteground.

    Good luck!
