Web design and development used to be an elite field, but now more and more people are teaching themselves how to create great websites. Fortunately, with sites like WordPress, building a site can be very simple. Below are the top ten reasons you should use WordPress.

1. Free and Open Source

WordPress will always be completely free to you. It is also open source, which means that you are free to modify and redistribute the source code under certain conditions.

2. Themes

WordPress has over 1,500 free themes to choose from, which lets you completely customize your site to fit your style. There are themes like this one, called buttercream, which cater more to blog-like websites.

And there are more business specific themes, like this one, called, responsive.

3. SEO Benefits

WordPress has great built-in SEO (search engine optimization) benefits, which can help your site rank well in search results. Google’s Matt Cutts has recommended WordPress for better Google search results

4. Plugins

Plugins extend the usability of your website, and can add great features for you and your viewers. There are thousands of plugins available, and most of them are free, which means WordPress offers your site flexibility.

5. Community Support

WordPress is very popular; there are over 55,400,00 WordPress sites in the world, which means there is a large community of support to answer your troubleshooting questions.

6. Easy to Use

Like I’ve said before, WordPress is very user friendly. If you can use Microsoft Word, you can use WordPress. Many hosting services offer one-click installation, making getting started very easy.

7. It’s Secure

The WordPress developers work hard to make sure your site is secure. There are also additional plugins available to enhance your site’s security.

8. Automatic Updates

Your version of WordPress will be automatically updated when the most current version is released. This boosts security, as well as performance.

9. Mobile Accessible

WordPress is built upon HTML and CSS, which means it can be rendered on any device. More and more people are accessing the internet via their mobile devices, and using WordPress ensures your site reaches mobile audiences.

10. Best Blogging Platform

WordPress is arguably the best blogging platform available, which means adding a blog to your site is easy. By adding a blog to your site, you are creating an interactive platform in which your community of viewers can share ideas and hear yours.

WordPress is easy to use. If you can
send an e-mail, use Microsoft Word or set up a Facebook account, then
you can use WordPress. And normal use doesn’t run the risk of mucking up
the design. It’s website creation for non-techies.
