i tried most of the different sites that carry a live demo and they all work, though it did take me a sec to find the actual demo links. so here ya go:

    http://phototour.cs.washington.edu/applet/index.html
    http://labs.live.com/photosynth/systemcheck.htm

    both sites are really cool.

I was duly impressed - it is a great technological feat. But I do have some reservations, which I blogged about here http://webtorque.org/?p=256

What do you think? Perhaps I’m being unfair - I really don’t want to do the creators of this down.

The fact remains that this is a prototype that’s going to be exploited a lot in the following years. Thus some good (innovation) has to come out of it.

Its people sharing everyday snapshots that can actually collectively effect change. I challenge you to define something you care about and to distribute a picture that expresses your desire for change…www.graphita.com

Notes on high resolution images are cool.

I can only imagine Microsoft taking this idea, giving it a new BG color, and re-naming it “Microsoft Photo”. They really should have simply released the source and let Linux users take care of it.

Notice he said at the beginning that Microsoft “acquired” this, just as they have most of their major breakthroughs.

It seems the more data that is entered by us the users, makes a more complete picture, maybe this is a push in the right direction towards a crude holo technology?? probably not in my lifetime.lol. I liked how it seemed to be layered and you could find say a car, look at the engine, then at a cylinder, then at the cylinder rings, and then go to another spot on the screen and get the tech specs for that specific part. NICE!!

Imagine this being linked to wikipedia. It will be like google earth, but being able to tour the earth from almost any viewing angle in a spacial 3d world, not just from above. throw this all together with google maps and we’ve got a duplicate of the major parts of the world.

Indeed it was amazing, squeezing the real globe into a globe on your desktop, hope it will lead to that. But who is going to benefit, the pros and the masters, sitting in hi-tech environment and leading the world to don’t know where. I only wish that tech is not hi-jacked for military purposes only. let the world come together with this. All stars to the innovator.
