Adobe Media Player Announced
Adobe announced on monday, April 16th at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) trade show, running this week in Las Vegas the future launch of Adobe Media Player.
At the show, Bruce Chizen, chief executive officer at Adobe, indicated that the Adobe Media Player is part of the firm’s plan to “…build out a technology portfolio that will drive new advances in Internet video authoring, playback and commerce.”
The Adobe Media Player is positioned as a quick download that will provide higher quality Flash playback, the ability to download and view videos offline, ways to discover new shows, full screen playback, one-click viewer ratings and a Favorites feature that automatically downloads new episodes of favorite TV shows or video podcasts. Such an approach will provide for increased out-of-browser Flash-based viewing, a direction Adobe has been pursuing for some time.
